The Importance of Considering Spiritual and Religious Diversity in Mental Health

Geeti facilitated a discussion on the topic of Mental Health and Spirituality for a diversity presentation for graduate level mental health trainees. Geeti thoughtfully and collaboratively engaged others in meaningful dialogues around issues of diversity and inclusion. Elements of the discussion were unpredictable, at times there was concern about how it would all turn out. Geeti’s ability to facilitate the discussion in an engaging way was like the sun coming out after a storm, warming the people involved through enlightenment and shared wisdom.

Mental Health in the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Community

I invited Geeti to speak to our employees as a part of AAPI Month and Mental Health awareness month. She was an incredible collaborator and the session was very thoughtful. She offered her own experiences to connect with our audience about how and why she pursued her work, how she caters to her clients especially those that are Asian-identified, and ways in which we can all help break down the stigma attached to mental health and well-being especially in AAPI communities.

Samantha Hsieh, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program Manager at The Knot Worldwide

Geeti's presentation on the AAPI community and mental health was very enlightening for my teammates and me. She walked us through the context of why this community often has a stigma on seeking mental health support and why those resources are more important now than ever in light of the rise in recent hate crimes and discrimination following the outbreak of Covid-19. She educates with empathy and creates an open space to explore difficult topics in a diverse office setting.
